The NCEB provides ocular (eye) tissue to assist the researchers in gaining a better understanding, evaluating possible treatments, and hopefully finding cures for a wide array of eye conditions/ diseases such as:
1. Glaucoma
2. Macular Degeneration
3. Retinal Disorders (Diabetic Retinopathy)
4. Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP)
Some of this donated tissue also allows surgeons to practice and perfect operating techniques and procedures for common and new age eye surgeries such as:
1. Cataracts excision and lens implantation
2. Corneal transplant
3. Descemet's Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty
4. LASIK
5. Retinal surgeries
