Sources of Funding: The eye bank is funded primarily through the processing fees charged to transplanting facilities and research organizations for eye tissue. It also relies upon the generosity of donors.

Accreditations: The NCEB is a fully accredited member of the Eye Bank Association of America and registered as a U.S. Food and Drug Administration human tissue establishment.
It is also licensed for tissue bank operations in the state of California.

Service area: The NCEB serves the people of North Carolina, except for the metropolitan Charlotte and Asheville areas, before it serves any other constituency, supplying them with the necessary tissue for cornea transplants. However, the eye bank regularly provides eye tissue for research purposes and to people in need internationally. Countries receiving tissue in the past include England, France, Egypt, Korea, and Argentina among others.

Facility: The NCEB operates in a state of the art facility, designed and built specifically for eye banking. The facility utilizes advanced technology to manage daily operations, coordinate with donor hospitals and prepare tissue for transplantation and research.
