How You Can Help

You Can Make a Difference

You can help save someone from blindness or contribute to an improved quality of living for others. There are three things you can do to help:

1. Donate your eyes.

You don’t need to have a degree, special skills or even perfect vision. All you need is a desire to help. Donating your eyes at death to The North Carolina Eye Bank can help bring sight to someone in need, contribute to health research or provide training to new doctors.

Indicate your wishes on your driver's license or state ID card. By indicating your wishes on your driver's license or state ID will signal that you want to be a donor.

Sign a donor card.
The donor card helps identify you as a donor at the time of death. Download a donor card here and carry it with you at all times.

Talk to your family. Without a family member's consent, donation may not occur - even if you have signed a donor card. Tell your family that you are a donor so they will understand and support your decision. Download a family notification form here.

2. Make a financial contribution.

The North Carolina Eye Bank is supported through service fees and contributions from people like you. Your financial contribution will help us restore sight to approximately 1,800 men, women and children each year through cornea transplants, and countless others through research and training. Because the North Carolina Eye Bank is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, donations may be tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations. There are two ways you can make a financial contribution:

Donate Now Online!

The North Carolina Eye Bank accepts financial contributions online through the Network for Good web site. To donate now, click on the logo to the left and follow the instructions. Contributors can make donations "in memory of" family, friends and loved ones.

Mail Your Financial Contribution

Your gift can be mailed directly to The North Carolina Eye Bank. Our mailing address is:

The North Carolina Eye Bank
3900 Westpoint Blvd., Suite F
Winston-Salem, NC 27103-3903

Please indicate if your gift is "in memory of" a friend or loved one or "in honor of" an occasion or someone special. Please contact us if you have any questions about supporting the Eye Bank.

3. Help spread the word.

Tell others about the need for eye donation and the good that it can do. The Eye Bank offers free brochures and eye donor pledge cards and other informational materials. Representatives from the Eye Bank are available to speak at your organization upon request. Please contact us for more information about how we can help you spread the word about the positive effects of eye donation.
