Joseph (Joe) Millard Overby
Joseph (Joe) Millard Overby was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and businessman. He was the sole owner and operator of Overby Marine Sales and Service, Inc. He began this business in May of 1971 and operated it successfully for thirty-five years. He and his wife of fifty years, Dorothy (Dot) enjoyed spending time with family at their home on Lake Gaston. Together they had two sons: Joseph C. (Joey) and Rufus, and four grandchildren: Joseph C. (JJ), Jennifer, Brantley, and Brittany.
Joe had a passion for outdoor activities. His hobbies were boating, skiing, swimming, and gardening. He enjoyed the water and spending time with his grandchildren. He would take them riding on the wave runner, tubing, skiing, and taking the time to teach them how to swim and dive. He also enjoyed riding around in his sand rail or the dune “bugger” as Brantley, his then three-year-old grandson would call it. Joe grew the best tomatoes around. Joe was greatly loved and is sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robin Hicks Owens
Robin was and still is a giving person. As a registered nurse she dedicated her life to helping others. She enjoyed knitting, beading and spending time with her family and friends. Her daughter Emily was her world. She loved all animals and was eager to take in any stray that came by. She had a caring, forgiving, and loving heart. She is loved and missed by many.
