The North Carolina Eye Bank Mission

The mission of The North Carolina Eye Bank is to procure, process and distribute ocular tissue for the restoration of sight through corneal transplantation and related medical therapy and research.

To accomplish our mission, we are committed to:

Educating the public and medical communities about the need eye tissue donors.

Ensuring that the wishes of donors and immediate family are carried out to the greatest extent possible.

Maintaining procedures to maximize quality of tissue distributed.

Working cooperatively with ophthalmologists and other professional clients to ensure optimal results for the recipient.

Standards and Philosophy of Behavior

The North Carolina Eye Bank is built on the loyalty of our donors, the trust of our recipients, and the teamwork of our employees. As stewards of the public’s trust, we earn that trust by how well we treat donor families, how well we work with doctors and researchers, by maintaining fiscal responsibility, by finding opportunities to improve operations, and by finding ways to help people live healthier lives.

As such the North Carolina Eye Bank strictly adheres to the principles of truthfulness and accountability in all of its actions. We will strive to improve our processes and communications, and encourage participation in making NCEB an organization of excellence. The NCEB will make a good faith effort to communicate as appropriate with all stakeholders.
